Where we would be - PT Cover

For me, it's one of the the best sounding tracks from the 'Lightbulb Sun' album by Porcupine tree. The guitar solo (on the live version from Warszawa, as well as, the studio version) blows my mind every single time. It's just one of those songs that stirs up classic memories. This is my attempt at an acoustic guitar cover of "Where we would be".

Dream Theatre

Imagine there existed a distant land called Dreamdom, which contained every object, creature and scenario imaginable. Then imagine if our dreams were nothing but a perverse drama, with us donning the director's hat. We drag a permutation of these creatures onto the screen of our mind, and assign them roles and attributes based on our thoughts. Night after night, these actors would perform their assigned tasks and head back to this "Imagination-land" to get some rest during the day. This verse is written from the point of view of one such figment of imagination.

My skin is sore, doesn't feel like mine
Satanic red lighting is making me blind
I hear spooky BGM gradually unfold
Today it seems I've projected my soul

Into a scary movie, that has yet to be screened
I'm living out a nightmarish dream
As I kill with no remorse, i find myself praying
Only the twisted of heart, I am slaying.

Powerless I feel, devoid of control
I am just your ordinary tortured soul
Deported from Dreamdom (where everything exists)
Into the fantasy of some demented kid.

Doing his bidding, fueled by his rage
Enacting his hateful plot, page by page.
I can only hope this dream ends soon
For it reeks quite terribly of wretched doom.

As the alarm bell wails, I can call it a day.
Tomorrow I yearn to be in a cheerful play.
I can only wish , there's no way to know
My life is just that kind of show.

A Challenge

My guitar playing level has been at the same level for a while now. So, I've decided to 'challenge' myself and learn a new song , in order to proceed to the next stage. I'm starting off with this 1 minute long (short) piece from Joe Sat's 4th Album, The Extremist called Tears in the Rain. While hearing it on loop , I remember wishing it was longer, but today I'm realizing the one minute duration is an intricate aspect of it's beauty :) I will post my version in a week's time..

The Lost Chance

This morning I was feeling a little under the weather due to nostalgia. So I took out my guitar and strummed around for a while. I liked the random nature of the sound. This is based on just 10 minutes of playing. It is a little patchy in places and hastily mixed but overall I'm quite happy with it. Please let me know what you think. It's called the 'Lost Chance'. It's basically about when you see an opportunity and are so engaged in considering it, that it passes you by , before you notice.

I'm Back. Again.

I wake up everyday,
Expecting to find myself,
Back where I began,
Amidst ruined remains.
My efforts in vain,
Tomorrow is the future of my past
It's happened before , it'll happen again.

Because your force is too strong and
I've been here too long,
to hope for change,
Predestined , It has been
For me to stay.
You could say,
I'm a satellite,
Orbiting you for eternity.

Quite Easily Done Q.E.D

Recovered from the Diary of Anon.

After a lifetime of labor, I seem to have arrived
at a set of elegant N-variable equations,
that ascertain mathematically, moral Right vs. Wrong.
The profound consequences, my mind postulates.
No more room for greed, envy, and other human vices
in the cold calculating eyes of Justice, now armed with a sniper
Moral grayness annihilated by clinical precision
But as I count the number of independent equations.
my train of thoughts come to a crashing halt,
N-1... N-1.. N-1.
Pig-headed, I have been.
I have not a solution, merely a relation.
The grayness prevails.

PS: This was Anon's last entry before his mysterious disappearance in 305 A.D.
