Guitar-less

I bust my guitar nut. The one in the low E-string tuning peg. I was a little bummed, but is isn't all bad news. I finally got around to using Ableton. It seems like a really good software. Came up with this after a few rounds of messing about, I thought it sounded pretty decent :)

Don't be so Farmal

The members of Night Jammers met up yesterday after a long hiatus. During our typical strumming and jamming, we came up with a piece that sounded good to us. We call it 'The Farm'.

The Sky Moves Sideways - Phase Infinity

"We lost the skyline, we stepped right off the map Drifted into blank space, Let the clocks relapse"

The lyrics of "The sky moves sideways” by Porcupine Tree rang clearly in my ears today morning. It was the perfect BGM for my early morning dip in the infinity pool at Marina Bay Sands.

For once in my life, I woke up half an hour before my alarm went off, and felt fresher than an original metaphor. Even the daunting combination of an ice-cold pool and powerful gusts of wind seemed trifling as I walked into the shimmering waters.

I glided along the pool, watching the moon twirl in and out of sight amidst the marching clouds. To my left lay a slightly diminished Singapore skyline missing its premium member, which I was currently a part of. The sound of my teeth chattering made me feel like a chopper cutting through the morning sky. It was a spine-chillingly awesome experience.

I shall be talking in superlatives all day. I’m believe I'm qualified to.

For, at the stroke of 6 a.m. on March the 13th, I was a lone singularity in the infinity.

Sound Check

Was trying to come up with something I really wanted to say. Get my message out to the world, if you will.

Nothing to say by aytida88

Lyrics

This is an exercise in futility
Maybe I haven't been trying too hard,
But the more I think about,
I really have nothing to say.

Where we would be - PT Cover

For me, it's one of the the best sounding tracks from the 'Lightbulb Sun' album by Porcupine tree. The guitar solo (on the live version from Warszawa, as well as, the studio version) blows my mind every single time. It's just one of those songs that stirs up classic memories. This is my attempt at an acoustic guitar cover of "Where we would be".

Dream Theatre

Imagine there existed a distant land called Dreamdom, which contained every object, creature and scenario imaginable. Then imagine if our dreams were nothing but a perverse drama, with us donning the director's hat. We drag a permutation of these creatures onto the screen of our mind, and assign them roles and attributes based on our thoughts. Night after night, these actors would perform their assigned tasks and head back to this "Imagination-land" to get some rest during the day. This verse is written from the point of view of one such figment of imagination.

My skin is sore, doesn't feel like mine
Satanic red lighting is making me blind
I hear spooky BGM gradually unfold
Today it seems I've projected my soul

Into a scary movie, that has yet to be screened
I'm living out a nightmarish dream
As I kill with no remorse, i find myself praying
Only the twisted of heart, I am slaying.

Powerless I feel, devoid of control
I am just your ordinary tortured soul
Deported from Dreamdom (where everything exists)
Into the fantasy of some demented kid.

Doing his bidding, fueled by his rage
Enacting his hateful plot, page by page.
I can only hope this dream ends soon
For it reeks quite terribly of wretched doom.

As the alarm bell wails, I can call it a day.
Tomorrow I yearn to be in a cheerful play.
I can only wish , there's no way to know
My life is just that kind of show.

A Challenge

My guitar playing level has been at the same level for a while now. So, I've decided to 'challenge' myself and learn a new song , in order to proceed to the next stage. I'm starting off with this 1 minute long (short) piece from Joe Sat's 4th Album, The Extremist called Tears in the Rain. While hearing it on loop , I remember wishing it was longer, but today I'm realizing the one minute duration is an intricate aspect of it's beauty :) I will post my version in a week's time..
